Q) How much is an eye examination?

A) For a private examination the current fee we charge is £29.00, although we occasionally have offers on at our practices - call us to check. NHS examinations are completely FREE, to find out if your benefits cover you please contact one of our practices.


Q) How long will it be before I will be seen for an eye examination?

A) Generally appointments can be offered within a few days of an enquiry.


Q) Why is having an eye examination important?

A) An eye examination covers all aspects of your vision and health of your eyes, but also picks up signs of health problems like diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol.


Q) At what age can children be tested?

A) It is recommended for children to have an eye examination before they start school. If you have any concerns, children of any age can be examined using techniques most suited to them so not just reading letters.


Q) What is OCT?

A) OCT – Ocular Coherence Tomography is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of your eye. The OCT machine captures both a fundus photograph and a cross-sectional scan of the back of the eye at the same time.
